On November 2, 1920, white mobs attacked Black residents of Ocoee, Florida, after Mose Norman attempted to vote. Julius “July” Perry was captured, lynched and displayed; homes and churches were burned, and an unknown number of Black residents were killed. The surviving Black population was expelled, and Ocoee remained virtually all-white for decades.
